Wolf Alice's 'Blue Weekend' short film, directed by Jordan Hemingway, which premiered last night at Soho's Picturehouse Central Cinema.
Brit-pop band Wolf Alice have stormed up the Official Irish Albums Charts with their stunning third offering Blue Weekend, while 18-year-old Olivia Rodrigo has retained her chart double.
The US pop sensation's debut album SOUR stormed to No.1 two weeks ago, and her hit single 'Good 4 U' continues to dominate the Official Irish Singles Chart. Rodrigo is the first female artist to claim the Chart Double with a debut album since Lady Gaga in 2010, with The Fame and 'Just Dance'.
Blue Weekend has earned deserved praise from critics all-round. Hot Press described the much-anticipated follow up to 2017’s Mercury Prize winning album Visions of a Life as "otherworldly, jubilant and downright riotous enough to push the golden crown from their sophomore album’s near-perfect head."
"Embroiling their listeners in a rich cocktail of emotions, soundscapes and subject matter, Wolf Alice place Rowsell’s elegant vocals at the emotive forefront of the album," Kate Brayden wrote in her review for Hot Press. "Her voice is used as a raw and vicious instrument at times, and an angelic force for calm within other tracks. Either way, we are powerless - compelled to listen to her every confession, every scrutinised statement, every sonic utterance."
Earning the No. 3 spot on the Official Irish Albums Chart this week, Dermot Kennedy's debut Without Fear stays at No. 2, while Dua Lipa's Future Nostalgia and Fleetwood Mac's 50 Years - Don't Stop stay at numbers 4 and 5 respectively. Harry Styles, Elton John, ABBA and Fleetwood Mac's Rumours round out the Top 10.
