Hot Press premieres the latest single from Marina Kaye, 'The Whole 9', which offers yet another glimpse into the dark-pop singer's forthcoming album.
21-year-old multi-platinum selling singer-songwriter Marina Kaye continues to push the boundaries in 2020 with her potent new single ‘The Whole 9’. Picking up where she left off after dropping ‘Twisted’ at the end of last year, 'The Whole 9' recommences her darker, sultry rebirth and explores her difficult upbringing and its effect on relationships later in life.
"The song is about letting this person into my life, with a reminder of how this can turn out," Kaye admitted. "My childhood resulted in some deep scars leaving me with a complicated personality where things tend to be either very black, or – less often – totally white. Anyone wanting to enter my life, or keep up with me, has to try to deal with this."
In the business since she was 13, Kaye shot to fame with her debut album, Fearless which became certified triple platinum in her home country of France. She has since toured extensively and put out another album, Explicit in 2017 and is in the process of putting together her third. 'The Whole 9' marks the second single from her forthcoming project, due to be her first album in three years.
Her first album track ‘Twisted’, was the first taste of the artist's new direction. Now, ‘The Whole 9’ is rooted in deep electronic production with Kaye's quintessential anthemic pop melodies. Kaye's upcoming album is said to explore sounds distinct from what she has recorded before, reflecting her thickened skin from growing up in the industry.

“I never really thought I would be making music professionally," she admitted ahead of the track's release. "I’ve been singing since I was very young to heal myself and soon realised I could heal other people’s wounds with my music. Writing and singing have kept me going for the past 10 years and today, I feel stronger than ever about my decisions and the way I want to make music. This is what I was born to do."
