The Bray trio have claimed the highest new entry on this week's Albums Chart.
Following its release last week, Wyvern Lingo's acclaimed second album, Awake You Lie, has debuted at No.8 on the Official Irish Albums Chart – becoming the trio's second Top 10 album.
The Bray band, who feature as the cover stars on the current issue of Hot Press, launched the album last week with a stunning live-streamed show – followed by a live Q&A, broadcast on the Hot Press YouTube channel.
"Awake You Lie – a reference to late-night worrying – is their self-professed grown-up album, and while it certainly is that, the good news is that it refines what made the first record so great," Pat Carty wrote in his review of the album for Hot Press. "The singles, although they could all be singles, tell the story. ‘Rapture’ – an appropriate title - begins with a gentle piano figure, then the beat kicks in and the voices slowly start to coalesce around another beautiful melody, ‘Don’t Say It’, with its myriad of choral swoops and climbs, is as catchy as that thing that’s keeping us all indoors, and ‘Only Love Only Light’ sports a combination of percussion and vocal gymnastics in the chorus that is a thing of beauty altogether."
Elsewhere on the Official Irish Albums Chart, Dermot Kennedy enjoys a 24th non-consecutive week at No.1, with his 2019 debut album, Without Fear. He's followed by Dua Lipa's Future Nostalgia (No. 2), The Weeknd's The Highlights (No.3), Harry Styles' Fine Line (No. 4) and Lewis Capaldi's Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent (No. 5).
On the Official Irish Singles Chart, meanwhile, Olivia Rodrigo secures No.1 for an eighth week, with 'Drivers License'. Joel Corry, RAYE and David Guetta's new collaborative track 'BED' is the highest new entry on the chart, debuting at No.15.
