Galway singer Brendan Murray went straight through to the fourth show following the Sunday public vote.
However boyband United Vibe were not as lucky. After receiving the lowest number of votes they were eliminated from the X-Factor. Molly Scott and Acacia and Aaliyah faced off to stay in the competition after receiving low public votes.
Judges Louis Tomlinson, Nile Rodgers (standing in for Robbie Williams this week) and Ayda Williams all voted to keep singing duo Acacia and Aaliyah in the competition, while Simon Cowell voted for his act Molly Scott to stay. Cowell claimed he couldn't believe either of the two acts were in the bottom two and jokingly demanded a recount.
The X Factor continues on Virgin Media One and ITV on Saturday 10 November at 10.30pm.
