Dreamt up by Snow Patrol’s Gary Lightbody after a Lou Barlow gig in Glasgow, the ten-day recording session that followed bears many of the hallmarks of the city’s distinctive sound. There is much lo-fi guitar strumming and half-arsed vocalising to be had, but the many hands involved make a disappointingly light work, lacking much of the intensity of their own band recordings.

Moments of brilliance do emerge throughout, offering a glimpse of what might have been. ‘Raindrop’ and ‘Sting’ are both fantastic, the latter easily the best track on offer. Elsewhere, there are hints of half-finished ideas and suggestions that, with a little longer to put together, this could have been pretty memorable. As it is, a cautious seven.
