Working with the Belfast hip hop artist YinYang, the Dublin, techno-noise band YARD craft a feverish, hypnotising song about growing beyond the confines of an external skeleton.

After supporting Shame and Scalping in Dublin, the four-piece band are dead-set on crafting an intense, immersive techno and rock experience, taking inspiration from SUUNS, Gilla Band, Death Grips, Nine Inch Nails and more. Rallying behind their mascot "Bucketman," they've been building their work for the past two years and are now ready to reveal it to new audiences.

“ECDYSIS is about getting into something that you know has the potential to cause you harm," YARD explains. "then, when it ultimately does, having to pick yourself up and shed your skin of it to (hopefully) grow wiser next time.”

Lauren Hannan, the producer and visionary behind the YinYang pseudonym, added that "collaborating with YARD has been a match made in heaven."

"We have the same creative tastes for sure. I remember heading to Dublin for our first session working on the track, the guys hadn’t heard my vocal idea yet and when we started to play it together we all looked around the room like YEP THIS IS IT!”

“I don’t get to share that moment with anyone typically as a solo artist, so that was real special. Then when we played it live for the first time it was like power rangers coming together to serve up some techno hip-hop goodies. So much love to YARD, long may this collab and friendship continue."

YARD's new single 'ECDYSIS' premiered last week on BBC 6 Music and also now has a music video. Its a scaly visualisation of why you shouldn't bait a snake to bite, the disconcerting and pulsing single accompanied by insane, neon outlines of snakes slithering and YinYang singing.

"We always wanted an outside vocalist for this track," YARD adds. "Once we came across YinYang, we knew we had to work with her. This will be the first time YARD has worked with anyone outside of the four of us. It's always cool to have an insight into someone else’s work process. We definitely speak our own little language when working on tunes, it's been great translating that to Lauren."

Recorded at Yellow Door Music Studios and mixed by Emmet White, 'ECDYSIS' is hopefully the start of more entrancing work from YinYang and YARD alike.
