Ye Vagabonds share Nine Waves film
The release comes ahead of the Carlow brothers' tour in the UK, which begins this Sunday.
Ye Vagabonds have released the Nine Waves film, accompanying their critically acclaimed album of the same name, which was released on Rough Trade Records' folk offshoot River Lea in May 2022.
The band released no music videos in the leadup to the album release, instead opting for this longer form film which showcases each individual track on the album. The project is a collaboration between the band and film production company Tiny Ark.
The Nine Waves film is a visual representation of the album inhabits, primarily based within a derelict building in Dublin, and on location on the island of Arranmore, off the coast of Donegal.
The film features regular collaborators Alain McFadden (All the Brave Hunters), Cormac Begley, Ryan Hargadon, and Kate Ellis and Caimin Gilmore of Crash Ensemble as guest musicians, alongside a cast of dancers Stephanie Dufresne and Cristian Enmanuel Dirocie, and Arranmore bar owner Jerry Early.
“It was a pretty ambitious project overall,” said Ye Vagabonds on the film. “It was filmed within a derelict house in Dublin and on Arranmore Island by Tiny Ark, who are a deadly and very sound film production company that we've become great friends with.
“It's important to thank and properly credit everyone involved in this, as it was a real labour of love,” they added “You can find everyone's name in the description of the video who was a part of it, both on and off the screen.”
Ye Vagabonds tour the UK starting this Sunday, for more information on dates and tickets visit www.yevagabonds.com.
