Yen is slated to drop on February 20th via Soft Boy Records.
Yenkee has dropped a brand new single ‘Soft Satellite’ and its music video to celebrate the announcement of his upcoming EP Yen.
The video opens with Yenkee swimming after his guitar in space. The singer dances to the track against a backdrop of visuals including inter-galactic imagery, star-spangled symbolism, and a clip from his video ‘Drive.’
‘Soft Satellite’ is instantly addictive featuring soaring synths and beautiful vocal arrangements. The track explores trying to be accepted into a social circle but never having the ability to go beyond being an outsider.
“‘Soft Satellite’, to me, feels like a metaphor for being an outsider,” said Yenkee. “Like someone orbiting a group of people, trying to fit in, but never being strong enough or confident enough to be accepted, and just bouncing off the perimeter back to where you belong.”
The singer explained the meaning behind the intriguing title for the song: “I like to daydream and think about crazy imagery and ideas to write lyrics, and sometimes a song title can inspire a whole set of lyrics.”
