Since the death of her husband John Lennon in 1980, Yoko Ono dedicated herself to the plea for stricter gun control laws.
For the 36th anniversary of her husband’s death, the Beatle’s widow shared a powerful message on the internet. She shares picture of Lennon’s blood stained glasses that he wore the day he died, along with “Over 1,200,000 people have been killed by guns in the U.S.A. since John Lennon was shot and killed on December 8th, 1980,” written above it.
“Dear friends,” she addressed her fans, “Every day, 91 Americans are killed with guns. We are turning this beautiful country into a War Zone. Together, let's bring back America, the green land of Peace.
The death of a loved one is a hollowing experience. After 36 years, our son Sean and I still miss him.”
John Lennon died when he was only 40-years-old. He was shot and killed by Mark David Chapman three weeks after the release of his final album Double Fantasy.
While Ono is calling for stricter gun control on her husband’s death anniversary, his son Sean Ono Lennon, along with the rest of the music world posts tributes in memory of the late Beatle.
