The transition from soap star to credible performer is always a difficult one, given that any such move is bound to be greeted with cynicism. In this instance, however, such an attitude might be a tad misplaced, because, believe it or not, Ms McCutcheon, unlike some of her peers, can actually sing.

It’s a slickly produced album with the two singles being among the most memorable tracks. Unfortunately, elsewhere the style tends to take precedence over substance, not leaving enough space for the singer's personality to emerge. If she had chosen a few more songs in the vein of ‘Maybe This Time’, the album’s final track and a huge belter of a ballad, I'd be a happier bunny. Next time around maybe.
