Young Thug has revealed that he recorded ‘Day Before’ with Mac Miller the day before the American rapper died in September 2018.

‘Day Before’ is the final track on Thugger’s new album Punk which dropped on October 15th. “I was with Mac the day before he died," said the rapper in a recent interview with The Breakfast Club. "He was at my studio. We did the song on my album. This shit’s so crazy but it’s coincidental.”

“He came to the studio, did the song. The next day he died. And the song that we did at the studio, the name of the song is ‘Day Before’. But the song is just about… women… It was like, flamboyant,” he added.

“I think deep on that, because it’s like, is that a sign? At some point you want to know. At some point it’s like, have you ever just wished God could really just talk to you?”

Punk is the second studio album from the American rapper who has also dropped 19 mixtapes. It includes high profile features from Miller, Drake, Post Malone, Travis Scott, Doja Cat, J. Cole, Future, Juice WRLD, Gunna and A$AP Rocky.

Young Thug — whose real name is Jeffery Lamar Williams — recently appeared as the musical guest on SNL along with Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker. The songwriter performed his recent single ‘Tick Tock’ with Barker and returned with Gunna and Nate Ruess later in the show to perform ‘Love You More’ off punk.

The father of six recently sued a luxury apartment complex for giving his Luis Vuitton bag that contained a hard drive with 200 unreleased songs to an unknown person. The bag also contained a watch, a chain and cash worth a total of $134,000.

Last month marked the three-year anniversary of Mac Miller’s death from an accidental overdose. Kid Cudi, Thundercat, Kehlani and many more artists paid tribute to the rapper to honour the occasion.

Miller’s 2014 EP Faces recently appeared on streaming services for the first time. The project features collaborations with Thundercat, Vince Staples, Rick Ross, Schoolboy Q, Mike Jones, Earl Sweatshirt and more.
