The artist draws inspiration from their time on the road with her van, traveling and playing music.
Zoé Basha, a French-American musician based in Dublin, has announced her debut album Gamble – out April 17.
The artist has three singles out from the project, including ‘Dublin Street Corners’ released today. The new track will be accompanied by a music video directed by Steve O’Connor, set for release in mid-February. The album, influenced by Irish traditional music, blends folk, blues and jazz. Basha draws inspiration from the likes of Billie Holiday, Joni Mitchell and Jimmie Rodgers.
The self-produced album was mixed and mastered by sound engineer Ben Rawlins, who won a Grammy in 2022 for his contributions to They're Calling Me Home by Rhiannon Giddens and Francesco Turrisi. It features a combination of guitar, fiddle, organ and upright bass.
Basha is known for her involvement in Rufous Nightjar, a folk trio based in Dublin. Before she joined up with Branwen Kavanagh and Anna Bishop, Basha spent much of her time traveling or working. The group re-centralised her love of music in 2020, confirming her passion.
More singles are set for release leading up to Gamble’s debut.
