How many more needless deaths due to someone’s skin colour or ethnic background do we choose to allow on our watch? How many unfair trials and outcomes for people’s futures do we silently let unfold? How many more children will grow in our communities to internalise a society that doesn’t value them the same as they do their white friends?
How many more campaigns do we really need to have until we all just see that, under of our vast differences, our souls know no colour? There is no amount of time or privilege that is worthy of one more hurt soul from the acts of racism. Our eyes and minds must demand enough is enough, and that we stand on the right side of history. We have the power to each stop and listen to the truths being shared by those affected, and then quickly shift behaviours.
This doesn’t take weeks, months or years. This is instantaneous integration. We centre the voices we hear experiences from, lay down our privilege, and then move with grace and power. With urgency, we choose to end the broken narratives of the past and chose a fairer, more just future.
