The former first couple of the US said that they told Harris she would make "fantastic" President of the United States.
Barack and Michelle Obama have officially endorsed Kamala Harris for President, in a video posted to their social media.
There was initially speculation on whether or not the Obamas would endorse her, due to their lack of comment. They now join a list of top Democrats who have supported Harris, including Hillary Clinton and Nancy Pelosi
The former president announced his endorsement on X, saying "earlier this week Michelle and I called our friend, Kamala Harris"
"We told her that we think she'll make a fantastic President of the United States," he added.
Earlier this week, Michelle and I called our friend @KamalaHarris. We told her we think she’ll make a fantastic President of the United States, and that she has our full support. At this critical moment for our country, we’re going to do everything we can to make sure she wins in… pic.twitter.com/0UIS0doIbA

The endorsement comes 5 days after current President Joe Biden announced he was dropping out of the race.In his announcement, Biden endorsed Harris, who has been his Vice President for the past term.
Despite these endorsements, Harris is still not the official candidate. That will be decided at the Democratic National Congress in August. However, anyone who wishes to run against her must declare it by July 27, and show support from at least 300 delegates.
If chosen as the Democratic party candidate, Harris will be running against former president Donald Trump, and his newly chosen VP JD Vance.
