It's not exactly Yeats, is it?
The latest attempt to spark a celebrity feud has resulted in a glitchy diss track from Black Midi. The track, titled 'ded sheeran,' lashes out at the 'Galway Girl' singer for no apparent reason, other than he "sucks."
Last week, Wiley and Stormzy found themselves locked in a diss-track-a-day type feud, and it's a potential that 'ded sheeran' is an attempt from Black Midi to step into it. On Wiley's track 'Eediyat Skengman 3 (Stormzy Send)', the UK grime artist raps "You never cared about grime, you just used it/ Worse than Ed with your watered-down music."
Is 'ded sheeran' intentionally bad? Most likely. The track is, lyrically speaking, more bare than Sheeran's trademark sentimentality. It's also a possibility that Black Midi are taking the piss out of the whole tired tradition of celeb feuding. The English math rock band trade in their usual washed out guitar for abstract beats and autotune, and utilise a Britney Spears sample before (finally), at the four minute mark, they kick in with the lyric "Ed Sheeran sucks/ you sellout ginger prick/ your music is doodoo, believe me man we don’t need you." It's not exactly Yeats, is it?

It's unclear whether or not Sheeran will hear the track, considering he's on his latest hiatus. Listen to the track below.
