"If you want to know what life in a rock 'n' roll band is really like, they say you should ask a roadie."
In the realm of rock ‘n’ roll, the humble guitar techs are the glue that hold the whole travelling circus together. In fact, you might even say that they’re the table upon which the bowl of brown M&M’s rests. While they don’t get the same credit that the fret wizards onstage do, their role is hugely important and requires them to perform regular feats of magic each night to ensure the show goes on, while also acting as best friend and agony aunt. If you want to know what life in a rock ‘n’ roll band is really like, they say you should ask a roadie and this tome by tenured tech Mike Rogers definitely cements that saying.
A tale of his life in music-including the period where he worked alongside Def Leppard during the multi-million selling Pyromania and Hysteria eras in the ‘80s-“Mrs R,” as he was affectionately known, serves up a veritable feast of anecdotes and insights from his life with one of the biggest rock bands on the planet. Full of highs, lows and stories featuring the so-called Terror Twins and the sometimes thankless life of a guitar tech, rock fans have plenty to sink their teeth into and the beautiful candid photos by Una Williams (and the author himself) help make this memoir a must read.
