Covid-19 is rampant in the UK now. And the extent of it is unfortunately reflected in the dramatic news that the British Prime Minister has been placed in intensive care
Boris Johnson has been placed in intensive care at a hospital in London.
The British Prime Minister was diagnosed as having contracted the coronavirus Covid-19 ten days ago. There was some concern when he was not given the go-ahead to return to work on Friday, after a week in isolation. That he did not look well also caused additional speculation that he might have a more serious version of the illness that is currently sweeping across the world.
Now, however, it is evident his condition has deteriorated seriously. An initial statement, released earlier today, said that he had been admitted to hospital as a precautionary measure. However, a short time ago, the full seriousness of his illness became clear when a fresh statement was released by No.10 Downing Street confirming that he had been placed in intensive care.
"Since Sunday evening,” the statement reads, "the prime minister has been under the care of doctors at St Thomas’ Hospital, in London, after being admitted with persistent symptoms of coronavirus.

"Over the course of this afternoon, the condition of the prime minister has worsened and, on the advice of his medical team, he has been moved to the intensive care unit at the hospital.
"The PM has asked Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab, who is the first secretary of state, to deputise for him where necessary.
"The PM is receiving excellent care, and thanks all NHS staff for their hard work and dedication.”
During the day, in an impressive show of solidarity, other British politicians from all parties had rallied around to wish the Prime Minister a speedy recovery. Those wishes, it appears, are more urgent than ever right now.
