CAO will extend the deadline for college applications in response to power outages across the country.
CAO have announced five extra days for applicants affected by Storm Éowyn to submit their applications.
While the general deadline of February 1 remains, those affected by the widespread power outages may avail of an extended deadline. Applications through this facility are due on February 6.
“CAO is arranging to make an exceptional facility available for those impacted by the unprecedented circumstances caused by Storm Éowyn who, as a result, are unable to make a 2025 CAO application by February 1 at 5pm,” said Eileen Keleghan, Head of Communications at CAO. “In the interim, we encourage all those who are in a position to apply to do so without delay.”
Those applying to restricted courses, or to avail of DARE, HEAR, and mature student routes, will still be able to do so provided they receive a CAO application number using this exceptional facility.

Applicants pursuing a restricted course should include the details of that course in their application before the deadline, or before the Change of Course Choice facility closes on March 1, for a €10 fee.
"For operational reasons, this exceptional facility cannot be extended after 6 February at 5pm," said Keleghan, adding that "significant numbers of homes are without power, but application numbers are stronger than for the same period in recent years"
