It's not only in America where the news that Joe Biden has passed the all-important 270 mark has been greeted with both relief and joy.
Fittingly, one of the first to react was Hilary Clinton who messaged the below:
The voters have spoken, and they have chosen @JoeBiden and @KamalaHarris to be our next president and vice president.
It's a history-making ticket, a repudiation of Trump, and a new page for America.
