David McSavage is set to kick off a stand-up comedy tour of Ukraine tonight – as part of what he's dubbed his "special comedy operation."
After commencing the tour in Lviv tonight, he'll go on to perform in Ivano-Frankivsk, Chernivtsi, Ternopil, Kyiv, Poltava and Dnipro.
He's organising the tour alongside Irish filmmaker Johnny O'Reilly, who's based in Kyiv.
"Europe has been sending medicine, food and heavy weapons," O'Reilly wrote on Instagram. "Now added to the list is comedy from Ireland – another weapon to show solidarity with Ukraine. The hilarious David McSavage, Irish stand-up comedian, comedy writer and street performer, known for the iconic television show The Savage Eye, will be performing in seven cities across Ukraine, starting in Lviv this weekend!
"This is a tough time in Ukraine but we all need to laugh, so come out and join us if you want to hear some hilarious jokes," he continued.
