As part of our Education Special, we're looking at some of the wonderfully varied options available to school-leavers. Next up is Dunboyne College...
Dunboyne College of Further Education
Dunboyne College offers a broad range of Level 5 and Level 6 courses, with more than 20 years’ experience of delivering over 70 further education options. The college sends more students to universities and institutes of technology than most secondary schools in the country — and hundreds more direct to employment — thanks to its knowledgeable staff and welcoming learning environment. Since 2003, Dunboyne has built up an outstanding reputation among employers and third level institutions.
Among their groundbreaking music-centred programmes are the one-year Music Performance course [Level 5], and the two-year Higher National Diploma in Music (Artist Development) [Level 6].
The courses on offer provide great ways of garnering new skills, with flexible options allowing students to sample various modules early on, making sure they’re pursuing the course that’s right for them.
“The focus on seamless transition aligns with DCFE’s success in facilitating progression from Level 5 to Level 8 degrees,” says DCFE Principal, Denis Leonard. “We have been working closely with Irish universities including Maynooth, UCD, DCU and TU Dublin to enhance and develop these pathways in teaching, nursing, science, engineering and other areas to open up opportunities for our students to get to where they want to go.”
