We have moved from Theresa May posing as a Dancing Queen to Spice Girls quotes from EU spokesperson, Margaritis Schinas. Whatever will be next?...
With Brexit drawing nearer and nearer, the European Union is urging representatives of the United Kingdom to be clear in their thoughts on what they might want, having rejected the withdrawal agreement negotiated by Teresa May with the EU. In relaying this view, the EU's Commission spokesperson, Margaritis Schinas, paraphrased The Spice Girls' '90s hit song 'Wannabe'.
Schinas stressed that the UK needs, at this stage, to be precise in its response, saying "It is now on the table, it is not open for negotiation – and we expect the United Kingdom to tell us what they want, what they really, really want."
One might add... "what they really, really want to do." No matter. It is a moment which resembles the 'best of Britain' pop-culture speech Hugh Grant delivers as the Prime Minister in the beloved rom-com Love Actually.
