The fundraiser has been set up to help Chi-Chi and her family cover costs, following surgery on a recently diagnosed tumour.
A Go Fund Me page has been launched in support of Chi-Chi, one half of acclaimed Dundalk duo Negro Impacto – who were recently selected as one of our 'Hot For 2022' Irish Acts.
The fundraiser, organised by Stephanie Saliu, aims to "help alleviate the financial pressure" faced by Chi-Chi and her family in recent weeks, after the singer was diagnosed with a tumour around her pituitary gland. Chi-Chi has since undergone surgery, and will begin radiation therapy shortly, in order to remove the remainder of the tumour.
In recent years, she's also lost her peripheral vision.
According to the fundraiser description, Chi-Chi is now unable to work, which "has placed a tremendous strain on her."
"Today I got home from over 3 weeks at the hospital," Chi-Chi wrote on Instagram yesterday. "From the 14th of January to the 7th of February I found out I had a tumour around my pituitary gland which had effected me terribly.

"Over the last two years to be frank I’ve been going blind," she continued. "I became completely peripherally blind. I began to have chronic headaches, migraines, see things in double and at the worse experience vertigo, nausea and aching pains throughout my muscles on the right side of my body which would sometimes switch from left to right. After being fed up of going to ER and having my symptoms dismissed I eventually went to Specsavers (SHOUT OUT SPECSAVERS)
"To cut a pretty long story short, I was referred to the eye clinic at Beaumont hospital who referred me to The ER department and I got a surgery to remove it. Over 90% of it is gone and I’ve gained my sight back!! I will be beginning radiation therapy in the coming weeks to remove the remainder of the tumour."
Negro Impacto served up some of our musical highlights of 2021, with the release of their debut self-titled EP in October. Comprised of vocalist Chi-Chi and producer StrangeLove, the pair joined forces during lockdown, and are fast becoming one of the most exciting, genre-defying acts in the country.
