Gaeil ar son Gaza have organised a major national campaign and fundraiser for the Palestine Children's Relief Fund.
'Solas do Phaistí Gaza' is a new campaign being launched by Gaeil ar son Gaza which asks people all over Ireland to light a candle in memory of every child that has been killed by Israel in Gaza.
The event will take place just after sunset at 9.30pm on May 1 2024.
At the time of launching the campaign, the number of Palestinian children killed in Gaza stood at 13,000.
Due to the enforced embargo on food aid and water, the World Health Organisation has said that 1 in 6 children under the age of 2 in Gaza is now malnourished.
On May 1, The Waterford Gaeltacht group Gaeil ar son Gaza are asking member of the public to light a candle at home with family, or meet up at their local playground (which is seen as a symbolic gesture representing the children in Palestine), and to take a photograph or short video and post it on your own social media.

The group have asked that participants of the campaign would tag the Gaeil ar son Gaza accounts on social media, including
on Facebook, Twitter/X, Tiktok and Instagram.
Solas do Phaistí Gaza has received endorsements from the likes of John Spillane, Kneecap, Damien Dempsey, Senator Frances Black, Mary Coughlan, Jimmy Crowley, The Wolfe Tones and former Dunnes Anti-Apartheid Striker Mary Manning.
The campaigns aims to have tens of thousands of candles light across the country to represent a powerful gesture of solidarity with the devastated people of Palestine.
Accompanying this campaign is a Gofundme fundraiser for the Palestine Children's Relief Fund, which suggests a donation of €5.
