The concert goer said: "I paid for this ticket expecting a show which is politically aware, not this absolute cowardly clownery".
An attendee at Hozier's December 15 concert at London's Wembley Arena was escorted to wardrobe as asked to remove a pro Palestine scarf they were wearing.
The scarf read "Free Palestine".
The fan, Hiba Ahmad recounted their experience on on the social media platform X and said that they were “pulled aside and escorted to wardrobe” for wearing the scarf.
In a thread posted on Ahmad's X account, the fan explained that they wore the ‘Free Palestine’ scarf “everywhere as a show of solidarity” and “because it is fucking cold”.
Ahmad stated that they were told by security that they were trying to protect the attendee from getting "hate-crimed" at the venue.

The attendee asked if security would also confiscate the pride flag on their keychain, however security reportedly said pride flags are "not political".
Ahmad also highlighted that she saw other attendees wearing tote bags which read "Stop animal testing" and also noted how a few month prior to the Hozier concert, Wembley Arena lit up in yellow and blue in solidarity with Ukraine.
However security stated that they were acting at the request of Hozier's management, and that they also feared that Ahmad would launch the scarf at the stage in spite of her having a seated ticket.
Speaking on the incident Ms Ahmad said: "I paid for this ticket expecting a show which is politically aware, not this absolute cowardly clownery".
In another post on X, Ms Hiba Ahmad shared a photo of her wearing the scarf and of Wembley Arena lit up in solidarity with Ukraine:

Hozier responded via X one day later (December 16), saying that he could: “state categorically that no request came from me about this, and my tour gave no directive about refusing entry of certain items of clothing or indeed flags”.
However a week later, on December 23 Ahmad shared an update: “I had a lovely chat with the general manager of @OVOArena who assured me I didn’t break any policies with my scarf & that the staff acted.. on the orders of Hozier’s tour manager who had insisted on removing any and all references to Palestine in the arena.
“I will be receiving a public apology in the new year, the staff will continue receiving training on this issue, they will make their stance on political statements clear on their website, and they have also promised to donate money to humanitarian relief in Gaza.”
Wembley Arena last week shared a statement which read: “This was an isolated incident where venue policy wasn’t followed as intended".
The continued saying that: "The decision to stop the guest was not following artist wishes."
Today (Feburary 26), Hozier thanked the venue for “clearing up this misunderstanding”, adding: “The team and I have zero policy of prohibiting signs of any kind and I’m sorry to Hiba and her friends that they experienced this at the London show.”
The concert goer replied to the artist saying: "Thank you so much Andrew, I really appreciate you reaching out directly, shows the person and artist you are. Solidarity.”
