"We urge everyone to join this important boycott and stand on the right side of history," Mockie Ah have stated.
Ahead of the Eurovision Song Contest next month – and in the midst of calls for Ireland to boycott the event – Irish drag haus Mockie Ah have revealed that they'll be hosting an alternative Eurovision night in Cork on Saturday, May 11, with similar events also expected to take place nationwide on the same day.
"In February 2024, we made the decision to cancel our annual Eurovision screenings due to the EBU’s failure to remove Israel from the competition," Mockie Ah wrote on social media. "While the Eurovision is an important night to us and many of the LGBTQIA community, we stand with Palestine and their calls for a boycott."
Their Cork event, Queens For Palestine, is taking place in The Pav – with the cabaret and club night set to feature over a dozen acts from across Ireland.
All proceeds and donations raised from the event will be donated to charity.
"We are currently working with the Cork Palestine Solidarity group on finding the best charity to donate the funds to and will announce this shortly," Mockie Ah stated.
