It marks the first onstage clash between the candidates since their 2020 debate in Nashville.
Donald Trump and current U.S President Joe Biden have agreed to a live debate on 27 June.
The event will take place Atlanta, Georgia and will be broadcast live on CNN. The occasion marks the first time that the pair will go head-to-head onstage in over three years.
Biden took to social media to announce that he “received and accepted an invitation” from the news network. “Over to you, Donald”, he added. “As you said: anywhere, any time, any place.”
Trump offered a swift response, telling Fox News Digital that he’d “be there” and was “looking forward to being in beautiful Atlanta.”
The 45th President of the United States then told the same network that “Crooked Joe Biden is the worst debater I have ever faced – he can’t put two sentences together. Crooked is also the worst president in the history of the United Sates, by far.”
In a later post to X, Biden added that he “also received and accepted an invitation to a debate hosted by ABC on Tuesday, September 10.”

“Trump says he’ll arrange his own transportation. I’ll bring my plane, too,” he wrote. “I plan on keeping it for another four years.”
The Biden campaign’s original proposal of the debates veers away from the usual tradition of three debates, typically held in autumn. Democratic officials said that the change of schedule, reduction in the number of debates and ending them sooner reflected changes in the “structure of our elections and the interests of voters”.
