As part of our 'Bob Dylan at 80' special feature, Judy Collins shares her reflections on the influence and impact of the iconic singer-songwriter.
Bob Dylan has been a miracle and his birthday in May is a celebration of poetry and genius and inspiration. He has lifted us up, brought us down very far, so that we could feel in his lyric: How terrible things are. How brilliantly beautiful. How heartbreaking. How memorable. How unforgivable and How unforgettable they are.
He has brought his worthy vision to share with us and to make us lift up ourselves and those around us as we listen.
How could we imagine life without him in the past 60 years?
Since I met him in a little club called the Gilded Garter in Central City, Colorado, he has made his rounds with quiet and faithful work devoted to art. Devoted to history. Devoted to magic.
Happy Birthday, dear friend.
Love Judy
