"Everyone deserves that kind of access," the Californian singer-songwriter says.
Following yesterday's reports that the US Supreme Court are set to overturn the constitutional right to abortion, as protected under the 1973 Roe v Wade decision, Phoebe Bridgers is one of many Americans sharing her own abortion story.
Taking to social media last night, the Californian indie star stated:
"I had an abortion in October of last year while I was on tour. I went to planned parenthood where they gave me the abortion pill. It was easy. Everyone deserves that kind of access."
Bridgers also included a link to an article that features a list of abortion funds to donate to.
The threat to abortion rights in the US was leaked in a "draft opinion", written by conservative Justice Samuel Alito, which indicated that the US Supreme Court "has voted to strike down the landmark Roe v. Wade decision," as reported by Politico. The outlet have stated that the leaked document is "a full-throated, unflinching repudiation of the 1973 decision."

Roe v Wade was a landmark Supreme Court ruling, in which it was decided that the Constitution of the US protects a woman's right to choose whether or not to have an abortion.
Although some commentators initially questioned the authenticity of the leaked document, the court's public affairs office has since confirmed that it is real – but noted that "it does not represent a decision by the Court or the final position of any member on the issues in the case."
On social media yesterday, US President Joe Biden stated his belief that "a woman's right to choose is fundamental" – and "basic fairness and the stability of our law" demand that Roe v Wade "not be overturned."
"If the Court overturns Roe, it will fall on our nation's elected officials at all levels of government to protect a woman’s right to choose," he continued. "And it will fall on voters to elect pro-choice officials this November.
"At the federal level, we will need more pro-choice senators and a pro-choice majority in the House to adopt legislation that codifies Roe, which I will work to pass and sign into law."
Bridgers' post came just hours after she attended the Met Gala with her boyfriend, Irish actor and Normal People star Paul Mescal. As part of her extensive upcoming tour, she plays Fairview Park in Dublin on June 20.
