The Return Of The Man Who Never Went Away
Due to an overwhelming public clamour* the Golden Hour returns for another run after a break engendered by a period of intense work/couldn’t be arsedness. As you can see from the picture above, I also took a brief sojourn in the Arab Republic of Egypt for the annual Sam Snort Geographical Society outing, although I missed a lot of my good man Gamal’s informative chat due to four bottles of Krug and the damnable sun. Thank heavens for my old pith helmet, as the bishop probably said to the actress on more than one occasion.
Anyway, I’m back now, for a while at least, so do enjoy this selection and please remember to follow both this playlist and the Hot Press Spotify profile. Free tunes, where’s the problem?
Hero Of The Week: Following on from the fella who stood at the Stevie Wonder concert in the same venue, holding a sign over his head with a request written on it, a bloke was spotted in London’s Hyde Park, phone in the air, hoping that the Shazam app would identity whatever song it was that Bob Dylan was “reinterpreting” on the stage at the time. Perhaps he was a visitor from the distant future, where our species is capable of such a miraculous feat. “Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic,” said Arthur C. Clarke. An algorithm capable of recognising the new “melody” to 'Make You Feel My Love’ would suggest a mastery of the dark arts to shame Paul Daniels.
