It has been a long day here at HP central, downloading videos as they landed, hammering these tributes into shape and bringing all the different formats together. But there are many fine words of appreciation – and of love – here. Enjoy!

The messages of support for and tributes to President Michael D. Higgins continue to arrive at HP Central, on the occasion of his 80th birthday! Through the day we have been fielding calls, messages, emails, DMs and more.

And then taking the raw material coming in from dozens of artists and hammering these contributions into a shape that works – technically, that is!

But it has been a fantastic pleasure. The artists we asked to be involved delivered their tributes in marvellous style, whether with written pieces and videos – and we rolled with it, because there is so much that is worth hearing in what these musicians have to say. And in the appreciation and affection, which they show for the President.
