There's been a huge outpouring of support for the migrant workers who are bringing in the crops
Sinéad O'Connor has lashed out at those complaining about Keeling's flying in overseas workers to pick their fruit.
In a robust social media posting this morning, she states: "I'm confident that workers being brought in to help farmers is an absolute necessity and would not be happening otherwise. And that all human beings involved are being kept safe. And that fusses being made by previously professed racists are misguided at best."
Here are five other tweets making equally eloquent points about the situation:
As a farmers daughter I have seen first hand who will do the work and the lack of people who apply for essential labour work.#Keelings have released a statement, they are all going to be quarantined and follow protocol.Enough with the racism. pic.twitter.com/ErrYjqJNwI

Fruit pickers are essential workers. If not for migrant workers there would be food shortages in Ireland as much of food production here is done by migrant workers. We need them. A lot of racists exposing themselves with their fake outrage at #Keelings

Anyone moaning about #keelings not employing Irish people while their son/daughter is sitting at home doing nothing are free to get them to apply for a job https://t.co/0nxLNjlYQt
Sad to see people going mental over this when Keeling's advertise these jobs every year

There are oul' lads listening to the #Keelings story muttering 'it's a disgrace', while still buying groceries with the winnings they brought home from Cheltenham. #TodaySOR @TodaySOR

Lord; the #keelings business is just laughable.
1. They’re going into isolation for 14 days upon arrival.
2. They’ll be self isolating after they leave quarantine.
3. Farm labour isn’t unskilled. Many of these jobs can’t be filled by local candidates without training...
