Songs From An Empty Room raises €400,000 for Irish live event professionals, but "there seem to be few in Government who give a damn," say organisers
Soule performing from The Olympia Theatre, Dublin, for Songs from An Empty Room, which aired on RTÉ2 and RTÉ 2FM on Saturday, July 25th 2020, and is now available on the RTÉ Player. Bands across the country came together in support of Minding Creative Minds and the Association of Irish Stage Technicians (AIST) Hardship Fund. Produced for RTÉ by ShinAWil, Songs from An Empty Room comprised of over two hours of top-class musical performances, broadcast into homes from much-loved venues around the country, including The Olympia Theatre in Dublin, Cyprus Avenue in Cork, Dolan’s in Limerick, INEC in Killarney and Galway’s Roisin Dubh. Hosted by Eoghan McDermott and Jenny Greene from The Olympia Theatre, it featured performances from acts including Aimée, Denise Chaila, Eve Belle, Fia Moon, Gavin James, Jafaris James Vincent McMorrow, Lisa McHugh, Lyra, Mother DJs, Noel Hogan (The Cranberries) with Danny O’Reilly (The Coronas), Picture This, Sorcha Richardson, Soulé ,The Academic, The Blizzards, The Coronas and The Stunning. Noel Hogan and Danny O'Reilly teamed up for a stunning rendition of Linger by The Cranberries (***embargoed information until after broadcast tonight on RTE2 - post 10.45 pm***).
