The American actor has urged Irish voters to re-elect Daly and Wallace as MEPs.
Academy award winning actor Susan Sarandon has spoken up about her support of Clare Daly and Mick Wallace in their campaign to retain their seats in the European Parliament in the upcoming European Parliament elections.
“For the last five years when I've seen Clare Daly and Mick Wallace doing what they're doing, we can hear them around the world, including the United States,” Sarandon said.
She claimed the pair are “speaking up loud and clear for international solidarity, social justice, for peace and for the oppressed people.”
“I can’t tell you how much that means to those of us in other places that are given hope by them,” she said. “There are very few voices for peace in places of power and we need them more than ever now, especially with what’s going on in Gaza.”
Daly, who represents Dublin, said: “I’m humbled that the platform we have developed in Europe against militarism has been heard and is supported around the world.”

“It shows the importance of keeping this seat and redoubling our efforts,” she added. “Susan is a legend. A great actress and an even better person.”
Responding to the video in a post on X, Wallace said: "It's far from Hollywood actresses I was reared. But amazing to receive endorsement and support from the great Susan Sarandon. She has a great politics and an even better heart.”

"I've received great support from Irish people too and people in Ireland South in particular for my anti-war views and for my stance on Gaza and my condemnation of Israel. I have always done my best to speak on behalf of the less well-off, be they in Ireland or elsewhere,” the Ireland South rep added.
Both Daly and Wallace have been viewed as controversial since their election as MEPs in 2019 due to their stances on international issues.
The two were among 13 MEPs to vote against a European Parliament resolution condemning Russian aggression, which also argued in favour of the speeding up of Ukraine’s candidacy for EU membership.

Wallace also said that, in his opinion "Ukraine is being used by the US and Nato in their war to undermine Russia” and Daly said the EU’s response to the conflict “makes me sick to be honest with you”.
Polling for the European election will take place on June 7.
