Anamoe Drive is the solo moniker of Thumper frontman Oisín Leahy Furlong.
'Goodbye & Goodluck' is a far cry from Thumper's grunge punk, but Oisín Furlong has always had a sweet voice. Even over grating guitar, there has always been a melodic sensibility to Thumper's arrangements.
The dulcet track was engineered by Alan Dooley (also of Thumper) and produced by Brendan McGlynn, who Furlong credits with bringing the song "out of itself, creating an entirely different sound than I was imagining". It was initially meant to be the first in a series of phone recordings, but with McGlynn's arrangements, Anamoe Drive was realised as "a reaction to this new sound".
On the second verse, Furlong sings, "talking like I'm doing by best / Best at bad first impressions." But 'Goodbye & Goodluck' actually makes a good first impression, combining pretty melodies and mournful guitar. The intimate songwriting and bold musicality certainly proves Furlong's diversity, and we're excited for what's to come.
