Trump also expressed interest in further debates, at a press conference in Mar-a-Lago
The first presidential debate between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump has been confirmed, taking place on September 10 and to be aired on ABC.
Trump expressed his interest in a press conference at his Florida residence, as well as saying he wanted additional debates on Fox and NBC.
So far, only the ABC debate has been officially announced, with both candidates being confirmed by the broadcaster.
Harris said that she was looking forward to the event in a post on social media, saying she was glad the former president had “finally committed”.
I hear that Donald Trump has finally committed to debating me on September 10.
I look forward to it.— Kamala Harris (@KamalaHarris) August 8, 2024

The press conference marked Trump’s first appearance since Harris picked Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her VP. Trump claimed that Harris and Walz were weak candidates, who were already dropping in the polls.
A poll conducted by Ipsos found Harris is currently ahead of Trump, with her leading by 47% to 37%, a higher lead than in July.
Harris, who was announced as the Democratic pick when President Joe Biden dropped out of the race on July 21, has since galvanised Democrat supporters, bringing in millions of dollars in donations.
Trump insists he has not altered his approach to the race, arguing that Harris inherits Biden’s record. He also suggested that the
President was the victim of a plot to dislodge him from the democrat ticket.
