In the aftermath of a horrific stabbing in Dublin, two gofundme pages have been set up; one to support the children and the carer who were victims of the stabbing, and one to raise funds for the brave Deliveroo driver who intervened.
A Brazilian Deliveroo driver has been hailed hero on social media for stopping intervening during a knife attack yesterday on Parnell Square. The attack has left a young girl (5) in a critical condition and she is still in hospital today.
Two other young children and a female worker of an after school facility were also treated for injuries after the knife attack on Parnell Square East in Dublin.
Gardaí have ruled out a terror related motive, and are holding a man aged in his 40s who was also injured during the incident. He too remains in hospital.
The horrific incident was hijacked by rioters in Dublin city centre yesterday to incite violent on O'Connell street. The riots, which scapegoated immigrants, left 13 shops looted, three buses destroyed, one Luas tram set on fire, and 11 Garda vehicles damaged.
Garda Commissioner Drew Harris said that 34 people had been arrested in the aftermath of the violence with “many more arrests will follow”.

Taoiseach Leo Varadkar said that the rioters 'brought shame on Ireland'
In the aftermath of such a horrific incident it is easy to plunge into the depths of pessimism, however people in their way as they always do, sow seeds of hope.
One such affirming story is that of Caio Benicio, who while driving past Parnell Square on Thursday afternoon, stopped his bike, took off his helmet and hit the alleged attacker on the head with it. This intervention stopped the stabbing.
As a result, a gofundme page has been set up by Paul Darcy titled 'Buy Caio Benicio a Pint' which has already amassed over 150k in less than 12 hours.
The concept of the gofundme was to encourage donors to donate the equivalent of the price of a pint of Guinness in their local pub. Over 15 thousand people contributed, far outnumbering the handful of rioters in O' Connell Street last night.
Comments under the fundraiser, issued by donors were praising of the Brazilian man calling him a hero.
Another act of humanity in the wake of the chilling violence was a similar gofundme page set up by Paul McIntyre, to raise funds to support the children and the carer in Gaelscoil Coláiste Mhuire who were victims of the horrific attack on the 23rd of November.

This crowd fundraiser currently stands at over €50,000 in less than 24 hours.
Paul McIntyre who organised the fundraiser, issued an update regarding its progress saying: "We have been absolutely overwhelmed by the support and kindness we have received thus far, so thank you all so much for your donations.
We have increased the goal so that we can continue to raise as much as possible for those affected by this horrific incident. Rest assured we will keep the fundraiser updated and will share exactly where the funds are going."
