After earning overwhelmingly positive reviews worldwide, the TV adaptation of Sally Rooney's book Normal People aired last night on RTÉ One at 10:15pm.
If you haven’t watched the first two episodes yet, we’re not going to be throwing any spoilers but you probably remember an opening scene of the official trailer where Marianne and Connell are having a chat sitting outside a café. That spot is no other than Mish.Mash, a place on the other side of Hot Press offices that served as a location for one of the episodes starring Daisy Edgar-Jones and Paul Mescal.
Back in September, we were lucky enough to witness the filming of this great production so we sneaked with our camera (always keeping a safe distance) into Marianne and Connell’s date in Dublin. Seven months later, in the middle of the Covid-19 outbreak, Capel Street looks absolutely different as you can see on the photographs we took today with the hope Mish.Mash and the rest of the shops are open again soon and the city is back to 'normal'.

Have a look of the behind the scenes snaps we took, you’ll probably see the actual scenes filmed there with another perspective now, and if you haven’t read it yet, check out the Hot Press interview with Normal People director Lenny Abrahamson.
