The Give Us The Night crew have shared this incredible image
Thanks to the Give Us The Night crew for posting this photo of the Al Keegan graphic, which is lighting up the side of one of the places where he played his legendary sets, McGruder's.
"As darkness falls on deserted streets, Al Keegan illuminates Dublin city tonight," they reflect. "Farewell to a legend, your light will shine on and on."
"Hero of our scene," adds writer and stand-up Will Lynch. "Had some of the best nights of my life in The Legal Eagle circa 2003/4. Rest in power, brother."
Another heartfelt tribute to the Dublin DJ, promoter and all-round good guy is paid by Saoirse Ryan.
"A huge, huge irreplaceable loss to our friendship group and our community. Al changed the landscape of Dublin clubbing, he was a risk taker, a DIY king, a f*cking amazing story teller. He started a movement in Dublin and brought so many friendship groups together, especially for me by introducing me to one of the most amazing women I know and so proud to call my best mate, his wife Martina Keegan. I for one have absolutely no doubt that I would not have achieved the things I have today without Al. He gave me my first gigs, he supported me and pushed me when no other promoters would; he made me laugh, so so much; he introduced me to Ricardo Villalobos! He was just always there to help if you needed. I feel we take for granted what Al gave to Dublin over the years and I would give anything to be able to tell him 'thank you' to his face right now. Al, my life took such a positive turn as soon as I met you and stepped into your world. You have given us all so much. I love you man. Sleep peacefully. X"
You really don't get any more heartfelt and eloquently put as that.
