SYML is releasing a brand new video on Thursday for his latest track Clean Eyes, but we here at hotpress.com have been able to get our hands on it 24 hours earlier for an Irish exclusive.
SYML is the solo venture of Brian Fennell who previously was part of the indie band Barcelona. SYML released his debut EP, Hurt for Me in September 2016. In total, the American musician has now released four EPs and many more singles.
SYML means “simple” in Welsh, and is pulled from his own personal heritage. According to his Wikipedia entry, "He was adopted as a child, and later in life found out that his biological parents are Welsh. His experience grappling with both his adoption and heritage are influences in his songwriting."
Singer/songwriter Brian Fennell has this to say about the song: "I would call myself a cynic. Clean Eyes is the first song that was written with more of a 'band' approach, and is about my wife who sees the world beautifully through "clean eyes."
Speaking about the making of the music video, Brian also says: "We shot this video in one continuous shot, so it took a full day of rehearsal and planning to get it right."

He adds: "It also took a ton of trust and getting to work again with Gavin made this video happen. He was able to capture the grit and darkness of the song, all while making me feel completely comfortable in front of the camera."
While the music video's director Gavin Michael Booth has this to say about it all: "The double real-time experience in Clean Eyes represents one man’s effort to find a new way of seeing the world. Sometimes to find new perspective, we must loose our vision first."
The track is available now at Spotify, Apple Music or wherever you like to get music.
