The indie rockers continue building anticipation for their upcoming album.
Just under three weeks to go until the 18 October release of their new album, Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost – Part 2, and Foals have released a new music video for single, 'The Runner'. The music video is the latest sneak peak into what the Oxford lads have in store for the upcoming album, after the release of two singles, 'The Runner' and 'Black Bull'.
The video focuses on frontman Yannis Philippakis as he’s relentlessly pursued by a doppelgänger, played by Vincent Heneine. Yannis’s meandering attempt to escape takes him through a variety of naturalistic and fantastical locations – some naturalistic, others more fantastical – in an exploration and commentary on the themes of masculinity, identity, and environmental collapse. Its denouement sees Yannis standing alone, surveying the embers of a world in flames.
The video was directed by Quentin Deronzier, the French visual arts director and co-founder of WOVE.
Available to pre-order here, Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost – Part 2 follows the album’s first chapter, which debuted at #2 on the Official Album Charts and earned a Mercury Prize nomination.
