As Chic make Ireland dance, we relive our recent encounters with the disco legend.
Chic brought the party to Dublin's Iveagh Gardens last night and our own Paul Nolan was suitably impressed, declaring them to be "one of the best live acts in the world." Ahead of their Live At The Marquee show in Cork this evening, we're taking a trip down Nile Rodgers memory lane.
Back in 2009, before the Daft Punk-assisted Chic renaissance, Stuart Clark found the ace songwriter and guitarist in fine name-dropping form.
Kicking off with an anecdote about himself and Billy Idol bumping into David Bowie in an after-hours joint in New York, he goes on to call Slash him "rather from another mother" and recall doing LSD with Timothy Leary.

Fast forward to 2012, and Rodgers had just contributed to the yet-to-be-released Random Access Memories Talking to Roisin Dwyer, Michael Jackson and Johnny Marr were just another couple of names casually cropping up this time.

The following year, 'Get Lucky' was the sound of the summer and the world were going crazy for Chic once more.
In the midst of the madness, just after headlining Forbidden Fruit and delaying his departure despite a 5am flight to catch, Rodgers swung by the Hot Press Speakeasy in order to meet, as he put it, "200 of my very close Irish friends."
