Beneath the masks, they're just a pop band at heart...
The image, band logo and album titles suggest they have a holiday home in Hades where it's warm all year round, but to all intents and purposes Ghost are the hard rock ABBA.
Across a hundred wonderfully preposterous minutes they pilfer the riff from AC/DC's 'Thunderstruck', the syndrums at the beginning of New Order's 'Blue Monday', a goodly part of Queen's 'Don't Stop Me Now', REO Speedwagon's 70s AOR harmonies and pretty much the entire Muse back catalogue, and insert them into songs that all have insanely catchy hooks as standard.
Add in flame throwers that singe eyebrows even on the upper tier, glittering confetti showers, a decomposing sax playing cardinal, a nod to Philo with the 'Boys Are Back In Town' intro, plague masks, two disco dancing female keyboard players and a spot of Eddie Izzard-esque stand-up, and Tobias Forge and his masked men/women's first Dublin headliner was an absolute hoot.
Glen Bollard was front of stage and caught the pick of the live action, which can be clicked through to here: www.hotpress.com/pics-vids/ghost-3arena-photos-22794863
