Gilbert O'Sullivan returns home to HEROES welcome at the Theatre Royal Waterford!
With a career spanning nearly 60 years including 19 studio albums, top UK male singer of the year, three Ivor Novello Awards, songwriter of the Year and his latest accolade of being bestowed the honor of the Freeman of Waterford City and County Gilbert O’Sullivan’s unique blend of melodic craftsmanship, witty wordplay, topical acuity, and surrealist humor has given him an enduring and endearing career. Last Night the Waterford native took to the stage at the Theatre Royal for the first of his five sold-out shows, closing a gap of 32 years since his last performance in Waterford and it was very special for both the artist and his adoring audience. It was impossible to fit every song in one show from a career this extensive but over the course of two glorious hours, the singer/songwriting icon gave a taste of how he has stood the test of time. There were stories behind the music, many laughs, and the odd tear of joy on a wonderful evening with the song master.
His friend, renowned musician Bill Shanley accompanied Gilbert on a special night for Waterford music lovers.
