Now that we're diving deeper than ever into the archive, we're finding real gems of musicians that were game changers on their generes. Today is Emmylou Harris 73rd birthday, a very good reason to have a look at the conversation Peter Murphy had with her back in 1997. It's a surreal interview with a woman that first wanted to be an actress while singing in bars only to pay for her classes until Gram Parsons saw her singing in Washington and asked her to sing in albums like GP and Grievous Angel.
Despite of touring with Bod Dylan, seeing herself inducted into the Grand Ole Opry, getting the 'queen of the New Country' title and winning 14 Grammys, Harris always managed to keep a safe distance from the mainstream spotlight. Most of the photos you will find here are from the early days, deep into the successful solo career of the singer. It's just her with a guitar and a healing aura that always seemed to carry, but you can also find her next to Daniel Lanois, who produced Wrecking Ball, one of the most critically acclaimed albums of the 90s.
