For the new Hot Press issue, Cork based singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Yenkee talks to Paul Nolan about having a song featured on TV mega-hit Normal People and his future plans.

Distant times call for a creative push. Travel bans, social distance measures and basically everything that prevents the spreading of Covid-19 is also making photographers all over the world miss portrait photography as much as you miss your favorite spice bag joint.

In order to get some fresh snaps of Yenkee, we decided to try something new and safe: a FaceTime photoshoot, where the photographer has a video call with the musician, gives some directions, put some common ideas together and take photos of what is going on the screen using props (like those hay fever hazard yellow roses I found in my front yard) as an organic frame for the image.

This gives us an insight of what a bedroom/home studio might look like of a truly dedicated musician that tries to find the time everyday to produce new music after his part time job in the supermarket in the middle of a scary pandemic.
