The video is the final of the Sentinel Video Project, in which 8 young filmmakers were commissioned to create a video for each track on Jape's latest record.
The Gar O'Rourke-directed video for Jape's 'We Threw a Dead Thing Overboard' has been released, marking the end of the Sentinel video project.
The video follows the story of a young boxer, contrasting images of intensity, aggression, and glory with the overlaid dreamy folk track. It begins on an intense note, with a mobile clip of the main character and his friend excitedly jumping around to hype himself up for the match to come. The tone quickly changes as Jape's folksy sounds accompany bold, blue-tinted cinematography. The story takes on a new emotion with its soft soundtrack, breaking down the violence of boxing into a complicated dance of glory and redemption.

O'Rourke is a young Dublin-based filmmaker who recently found success with his award-winning short documentary, Kachalka. He was commissioned along with seven other young filmmakers to create a video based on one of the songs from Jape's Sentinel record, released last year. 'We Threw a Dead Thing Overboard' follows the video for 'Instrumental for the Lonely', released a month ago.
