French pop star Marina Kaye releases an acoustic version of her latest single, 'Twisted', inspired by her experiences with mental health.
Marina Kaye, the 21-year-old dark pop star from Marseille today releases the acoustic version of her latest track, 'Twisted', as well as an accompanying music video.
“Twisted is such a special song melodically," said Kaye, "but when you strip it down and only use a piano, it has this haunting vibe to it that I love so much. It also allows me to focus the song on my voice which offers a more emotional experience around the track. This is why I wanted to give people an acoustic version of the song."
The original track marked her re-entry into the music scene this year, and the dark and sultry release went on to be featured on New Music Friday Playlists across Europe. The single was accompanied by a powerful video, inspired by an experience Marina had in a psychiatrist's office.
“The guy didn’t believe a word I told him and looked at me like I was a freak," said Kaye. "I wanted to use this experience, and turn the tables for this music video”

In the business since she was 13, Kaye shot to fame with her debut album, Fearless which became certified triple platinum in her home country of France. She has since toured extensively and put out another album, Explicit in 2017 and is in the process of putting together her third.
“I never really thought I would be making music professionally," she admitted. "I’ve been singing since I was very young to heal myself and soon realised I could heal other people’s wounds with my music. Writing and singing have kept me going for the past 10 years and today, I feel stronger than ever about my decisions and the way I want to make music. This is what I was born to do."
