WARNING: 'Goodbye' may very well break your heart
If it's Friday gorgeousness you're after look no further than 'Goodbye', the second solo single from former Dead 60s and Specials man Matt McManamon. We're also loving the video, which digs deep into a failed relationship. While his previous bands were renowned for their dancefloor rowdiness, this is the tenderest of (lost) love songs, which nicely compliments its predecessor, 'Seas Of Gold'.
It's the first fruits of his liaison with Freestore Records, a London independent who remind us that: "Through his previous collaborative output, McManamon is strongly associated with ska, punk, dub and reggae. His solo work, however, is more deeply influenced by his Liverpool Irish roots than it is by sounds that originate from Kingston and The Black Ark. The Dead 60s experienced a short, sharp burst of success which included two appearances on Top of The Pops and festival slots at Glastonbury and Lollapalooza. Tours with Morrissey, Kasabian and their label mates The Coral helped to establish the band and their eponymous debut album became a UK Top 40 hit – it would eventually sell over 100,000 copies."
