The behind-the-scenes man takes a definitive step into the spotlight.
Somebody's Child (aka Cian Goddo) was never supposed to be front-and-centre. In fact, the moniker was initially created as a project to write for other artists. His early singles are accompanied by semi-abstract artwork and elaborate videos that play out like short films. Today, Hot Press is thrilled to premiere the video for 'Love That Sound', and see Somebody's Child step directly into the limelight.
The single itself is full of colour. Its infectious, toe-tapping energy is enough to make the Irish sun shine, even for three minutes. By contrast, the video is shot entirely in black and white. People flood into the Olympia to watch Goddo strut his stuff on stage, more comfortable – and visible – than we've ever seen him. There is also a behind-the-scenes element to this video: Goddo and his bandmates are fully supportive of each other as they prepare to go on stage. "I have some incredible talent around me and I try to make use of that as much as possible," Goddo explains.
"'Love That Sound' to me instills feelings of upliftment. Sometimes all we need is to just feel better about ourselves and that was a recurring thought when writing the lyrics. The melody certainly gave way to the lyrics on this one. The music felt like it needed to be about showing love to oneself and one another."
